The details
Jack from Gloucestershire had been dating his girlfriend Amy-Jane for 3 years and had just moved in together. He knew the date he wanted to propose as he had planned a short log cabin holiday to Somerset with his girlfriend. He liked the idea of having a marriage proposal which was personal to show her how much he loved her. It had to be private and to be a surprise. After discussing some proposal ideas that was authentic to Jack, the plans and coordination got underway as I reached out to some fabulous suppliers in the county to make this a once in a lifetime moment....
The location
I certainly kept up the mystery by organising a private chef to go into their holiday log cabin situated near Crewkerne and cook them a delicious three course meal late afternoon. First surprise of the day!
While the chef was cleaning away, Jack asked his girlfriend to get ready as he was taking her out for the evening. Little did she know that I had arranged for a private chauffeur to knock on their door and whisk them off to a secret location in Somerset.
Andrew from Purrfect Wedding Cars chauffeured the couple in his jaguar and kept up the secret in spite of Amy-Jane quizzing him! Andrew is fantastic, so I knew he would be discreet and chatted to the couple during their journey.
After searching for somewhere private that had permission for fireworks, a rugby club in Bridgewater was the perfect private location as there wasn’t any of its members practising that night - apart from the suppliers of course!
I had contacted Rocketman a specialist firework company in Somerset who made a firework pack for our professional firework display, and was on hand to ensure everything went smoothly that evening.
The Proposal Day
Jack was armed with an itinerary time frame plan I had prepared, which he told me helped with his nerves! It started in the afternoon and went on during the evening…..all perfectly planned of course.
All the suppliers were supplied with the time frame plan, so it certainly was a well-oiled collaboration of working well together.
During the afternoon the fireworks were set up in place at the club, the décor was prepared with festoon lighting handing from festoon poles, a dark professional gazebo was arranged with romantic lighting and petals, with a table and two chairs inside. We positioned the gazebo so that when they arrived at the club, they couldn’t see inside.
The talented Victoria Welton photographer I had booked was on hand to snap the moment Amy-Jane got out of the car and the proposal, then went onto to provide the couple with an evening engagement shoot.
The Big Proposal Moment
I was waiting at the entrance of the club as the jaguar approached the red carpet. The suppliers were out of sight, ensuring it was intimate and we all awaited with abated breath! Amy-Jane still didn’t know what was happening, and as we walked onto the grassed area, Amy-Jane made comment to Jack how she could hear her favourite tune being played…….
as I asked them to follow me when she saw the beautiful petals in a heart shaped just in front of the romantically decorated marquee structure, the penny was had dropped. She looked quizzically at Jack, who then led her to stand into the middle of the petals then she realised as jack got down on one knee. We heard her shouts of excitement and we knew she had said yes!
And then on cue, the fireworks then went off, which were individually made for the occasion and lasted for around 5 minutes,with lots of hearts bursting into the air.
Amy-Jane said she couldnt believe Jack had gone to all this thought and arrangement, she had no idea he was going to propose while they were on their holiday break.
I introduced them to their professional photographer I had recommended to capture the moment and have an engagement photo shoot. Hope you can see from the photos how excited they both were.
After their first glass of bubbly I congratulated the happy couple and presented Amy-Jane with a beautifully large bouquet from her finance.
The happy couple enjoyed some private time out of the cold air in their marquee and enjoyed a bottle of champagne listening to dreamy music setting the hopeless romantic tone.
Family was telephoned,friends were chatted to on Facebook live links sharing their happy news before they posed for photos on their red carpet before being chauffeured in style back to their log cabin to continue their celebrations.
