Fliss and Steve's real wedding along with their dog joined their guests at Pauntley Court, Gloucestershire enjoyed countryside views as they said I do
The Couple's Story
Fliss and Steve are professional couple living in Essex found my Celebrant services via google search. Steve is a police officer so we had an instant connection as I have a former police background, but we didnt spend too long talking 'shop'!
Our planning meetings were conducted via zoom due to the distance, where we got to know each other and I listened carefully what was important to them to include in their ceremony, as well as offering ideas how to make it unique and personal to them as individuals.
They choose this venue as was nearby to their parents home, and had thought the venue fitted their needs perfectly. They wanted the formality as well as stunning views, and a laid back day so everyone could relax. I asked them In 3 words to describe their vision - they said - romantic, not cheesy, informal and enjoyable wedding -okay thats more than 3 but we are not counting!
The Dates
The couple choose the date of 15th September as it was on that day 14 years ago they met in LA while they were both on an organised camping trip. Mind you, after that it took Fliss ages before she contacted Steve again, in spite of him giving her his email and telephone numbers!
They got engaged 11 years later - again on 15th September during their holiday in Thailand in their hotel's restaurant on the top floor overlooking some fabulous views. Steve asked Fliss if she wanted to upgrade her girlfriend status!
So they wanted to have their wedding on 15th September too. There is no reason why they shouldnt forget their anniversary in future years!
The Colour Schemes
Beautiful pinks, coral and pastels were chosen for this wedding. This was seen in the floral displays.
Before the Ceremony
I always arrive in plenty of time to wedding ceremonies I conduct, and this was no exception. I popped in to see Fliss getting ready, to say hello and reduce any nerves!
The wedding service was planned outside in the formal gardens, and the weather was sunny as you can see from the photos. After spending time with the bride, I made my way out to the gardens to spend time with the Groom Steve before the arrival of his bride.
The bride wore an off the shoulder long wedding dress and the groom wore a blue tweed suit with pink tie and matching handkerchief. Didnt they look amazing?
The Ceremony & The Music
Bride Fliss walked up the aisle accompanied with her father whilst the musician played Pachelbels Cannon, and met groom Steve at the top of our backdrop of archway.
They didnt want any religion weaved into their ceremony, but did wants lots of laughs and to express their banter of each other along with some traditional elements. Their vows were made up of promises to each other, and they both exchanged rings. After that the couple choose to have handtying as liked the idea of handfasting of 'tying the knot' within their service. They choose colours which represented personal things to them, rather than the spiritual choices. They also took advantage of having my ceremonial certificate to sign during their wedding service.
Wedding Readings
The couple choose ‘Guess how much I love you’ written by Sam McBratney and ‘These I can Promise’ written by Mark Twain
Vows
This couple dont take life too seriously. As well as their heartfelt loving promises to each other, the groom said when he looks back on their 25th wedding anniversary, he would wonder 'how the hell did she put up with a crotchety old git like me for that long'?!
Handtying
The couple choose baby blue colour ribbon to represent the only colour shirt Steve wears - well he is a serving police officer! Green was chosen to represent their house colour scheme. Purple they choose because it reminded them of a poem of an eccentric lady who wears purple and black symbolising their collie dog Raven colouring. These ties were then bound around their hands before they stepped back and tied their knot. I presented the couple with their knot as a keepsake of their wedding.
The Wedding Dog!
It was important to them to include their beloved dog called Raven, a black collie, in their wedding ceremony, so Raven was their ring-bearer and sat obediently with the guests during the service.
The Wedding Reception
After the wedding ceremony, family and friends joined the happy couple in another part of the gardens where champagne was poured and toasts given to honour the couple.
All the guests enjoyed the extensive gardens, and stunning countryside views
Afterwards everyone retreated inside for their wedding breakfast held in one of the ceremony rooms
The couple opted for a naked cake with flowers that matched their decor.
Cheers to this fabulous couple, may your lives be filled with happiness, love and of course an abundance of laughter x
What Did the Couple Say About Using Amanda-Louise Knight's Celebrant Services?
Groom Steve wrote:
'COVID forced us to have a split wedding(21/3/20) and reception(15/9/21). When it came to the reception we required a celebrant to pull things together. We were both stressed and had little idea how to proceed. My wife came across Amanda Louise. What a find! She instantly took hold, guiding us as to the available options and filled us with confidence pulling together a bespoke ceremony that was perfect on the day. On the big day, she arrived well-presented and in good time. A true gem.'
